Mooreana trichoneura (also known as "Yellow Flat" ( yellow area) known) is a butterfly of the family of Skipper ( Hesperiidae ).

Features

Butterfly

The wingspan of the butterfly is 32 to 36 millimeters. The ground color of the upper wing is dark brown. On the fore wings there are some small bright spots. Specific type is a large yellow area on the lower part of the hind wings. The underside of the hindwing is whitish. Males and females are drawn similarly.

Caterpillar

Full-grown caterpillars appear glassy and are pale greenish. The head is large and from black-brown color.

Doll

The dolls are yellow to reddish brown in color and covered with a white waxy powder coating.

Distribution and habitat

Mooreana trichoneura is found in India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. It inhabits the forests of the lowlands up to heights of 833 m.

Way of life

Like other species of the same subfamily, mooreana trichoneura flies quite fast. As a resting place often serves the underside of a leaf, where she remains with outstretched wings. The caterpillars feed on the leaves of various spurge family ( Euphorbiaceae ), for example, of Mallotus paniculatus. They live in rolled and spun leaves.
