Moraine#Medial moraine

As is known in geology medial moraines at the confluence of two glaciers ( confluence) arise or have arisen. Here, the respective lateral moraines unite to form a medial moraine. If the original glaciers are the same size, the medial moraine can be seen as a scree band approximately centered on the glacier.

Medial be transported by the glacier and are therefore dependent on him. Medial have no depth. They are thus to be distinguished from " deposits between two glaciers ," which are formed from overlapping lateral moraines or randglazialer sediments from adjacent glaciers, each with its own dynamics. The rubble of the medial moraine on the glacier is called during transport and after deposition as Obermoräne.
