Morelia carinata

The Rauschuppenpython (Morelia carinata ) is a type of diamond pythons from the family of pythons ( Pythonidae ). He is one of the rarest species of snakes in the world.

Features

The Rauschuppenpython is the only Pythonart whose body scales have a keel, as noted by the scientific name (Latin carina - the keel ) and the trivial name indicates. The triangular head of the snake is clearly separated from the body and bears striking elongated front teeth. Staining is with irregular lighter patches which are dark brown tail end greater. The maximum length is probably about 2 meters.

Dissemination and lifestyle

The species is endemic in some places in the north west of Kimberley in Western Australia before. In the wild, so far only about 10 copies were caught and it is believed that the Rauschuppenpython slowly dying of natural causes.

The species colonized monsoon forests, is nocturnal and often stayed on trees. About nutrition and reproduction in freedom almost nothing is known but it is believed that birds and small mammals serve as prey. The females lay eggs.
