Morgan Heritage

Morgan Heritage is a reggae band of five siblings Una Morgan (born 1973, keyboards), Peter Morgan ( born 1977, lead singer ), Roy " Gramps " Morgan ( born 1975, keyboards / vocals), Nakhamyah " Lukes " Morgan ( * 1977, guitarist ) and Memmalatel "Mr. Mojo " Morgan ( born 1981, drummer ). Career

Originally there were 8 of the 29 children who emigrated to New York Jamaican reggae singer Denroy Morgan, which appeared under the name of Morgan Heritage. The children were all born in Brooklyn, New York, but also spent a lot of time in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she attended the High School. They started in the early 1990s in the recording studio with her ​​father's recordings, initially mainly on the weekends while still attended school. This created, produced by her father, the first single Wonderful World, which was released in 1991, soon followed by the debut album Growing Up.

The next year, her appearance at the Reggae Sunsplash festival was such a stunning success that the label MCA immediately offered them a contract. The produced until 1994 for MCA album Miracle, however, was quite a disappointment. " It is really too pop, produced with rigid views of the mainstream, nitpicks the press. "

The following year succeeded Morgan Heritage during a tour in the Ivory Coast rediscover their own musical roots. They parted from MCA, traveled to Jamaica in late 1995 and began with the work on the next album. The whole family moved to Saint Thomas over to Jamaica, the home of the Father. With the next album, the development of their musical style continued. Different influences from Brooklyn, New England and Jamaica were incorporated into the music of Morgan Heritage, as the album Full Circle united 2005 reggae with elements of ska, hip hop and Latin music. Rounding out it was a guest appearance by Damian Marley and dancehall remix, the LMS contributed together with Bounty Killer and Sizzla.

In the spring of 2008 Mission appeared in Progress, the now tenth studio album by Morgan Heritage.

In addition, several compilations were published under the title Morgan Heritage and Friends. The Morgan brothers produced songs together with Beres Hammond, Capleton, Luciano, Sly & Robbie, Gentleman, Toots and the Maytals, Anthony B., Jah Cure and many other reggae greats. They also developed a reputation as an excellent live band. Frequently Morgan Heritage toured together with LMS, another Morgan's family band, which goes into more hip-hop direction. Occasionally, father Denroy Morgan comes on stage.
