Moritz Fürste ( born October 28, 1984 in Hamburg ) is a German hockey player in 2008 and 2012 Olympic champion.

Career

Moritz Fürste played since his youth when Uhlenhorster HC. The same team also played his brother Jonas; the greatest success of the brothers with the club was the three-time winning the Euro Hockey League 2008, 2010 and 2012. 2008 and 2010 he was also named Most Valuable Player of the Euro Hockey League. For the season 2012/13 he moved to the Spanish club Club de Campo Madrid, returned after a year but back again.

2005 Moritz Fürste debuted in the German national hockey team. In the same year the midfielder fourth at the FIH Champions Trophy was. 2006 once the German team took second place at the Champions Trophy. Even more successful the team was in the World Cup in Mönchengladbach, as it defended the title in 2002. In 2007 he Fürstes second world title at the World Indoor Championships in Vienna. In the outdoor season, the German team won the Champions Trophy in 2007. During the Olympic Games in 2008 he won the German team gold. He was 2009 European Cup runners-up England and 2010 in India World Cup runners-up behind Australia. In February 2011, he was part of the successful team at the Indoor Hockey World Cup 2011. In August 2011 the German team won at the Field Hockey Championship in Mönchengladbach in the final against the Netherlands. In the 2012 Olympics he won gold again.

In January and February 2013 Fürste played in the newly formed Hockey India League ( HIL). He had applied on their own initiative and was committed in a draft from the team Ranchi Rhinos for three years. In a four-week round five franchises established the Indian Masters. In the final Fürste won as captain with his team 2-1 victory over Delhi Waveriders with the Germans Nicolas Jacobi and Oskar Deecke. He was also voted the best player of the finals. For his guest, he received 84,000 U.S. dollars. In the summer he defended with the German team the European title.

Moritz Fürste completed 204 matches, 14 of them in the hall. (As of December 9, 2012 )

In 2012 he was honored as world hockey player.

Private life

As Moritz Fürste was nine years old, his father was the sinking of the Baltic ferry Estonia in 1994 lost their lives.

After completing a dual degree at the HSBA in Media Management in conjunction with an education in business and marketing communication at a Hamburg advertising agency Moritz Fürste is currently completing a master's program at the SRH Fernhochschule Riedlingen.
