Morkůvky

Morkůvky ( German Morkuwek, 1939-45 Morkuwetz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers south of Klobouky u Brna and belongs to Okres Břeclav.

Geography

Morkůvky is located in the southwestern foothills of the Steinitzer forest ( Ždánický ) in the Boleradická Highlands. The village is located on the right side of the creek Haraska on the northern slope of the Ochozy (319 m). To the north rise the Plunary (336 m) and Harasky ( Harras mountain, 278 m ) southeast of the Hotařský Kopec (239 m ) in the south Ochozy and Hradek, southwest of Kuntinov (322 m ) in the west of Přední kout (410 m) and northwest of the Nedánov ( 368 m). In the northern area of the village there are extensive vineyards.

Neighboring towns are Augustinov, Klobouky u Brna and Kašnice in the north, Krumvíř in the northeast, Brumovice in the east, Ostrůvek the southeast, Kobylí and Bořetice in the south, Němčičky and Horni Bojanovice the southwest, Boleradice in the west and Diváky and Marti Nice in the northwest.

History

Was first mentioned in writing, which belongs to the Boleradicer goods village in 1356. Morkůvky was originally created on both sides of the creek Haraska, with the old village square opposite the present site in a south-facing slope in a small valley at the foot of Harasky at the site of the present village location kastanka was. The center was later moved as a result of the increase in population at the crossroads between Boleradice and Klobouky. 1417 belonged Morkůvky together with Němčičky Wenzel Czihowka. Other owners were the Vladiken of Zástřizl. From Eliska of Zástřizl Morkůvky and Němčičky went in 1537 to their son Zdeněk Žampach of Potštejn over. In 1594 Morkůvky was connected with the Good Boleradice to the rule Göding. The oldest town seal dates from the 17th century. Other owners included the Jakardovský of Sudice, Friedrich von Oppersdorff, Johann Adam Andreas of Liechtenstein and Josef Graf Czoborové. He sold the reign of Emperor Franz I in 1762. Morkůvky was in since the beginning of the 19th century in a Protestant and a Catholic school taught. Until the mid- 19th century the village was always Göding submissive and owner of the Habsburgs.

After the abolition of patrimonial Morkůvky formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Auspitz. 1871 both schools were combined. Morkůvek reached in 1921 with 811 inhabitants, is the largest population in its history. After the abolition of Okres Hustopeče the community in 1961 associated with the Okres Břeclav. Since 2000 Morkůvky leads a coat of arms and banners.

Attractions

  • Freestanding bell tower from the 18th century, today it serves at the same time as the entrance to the cemetery
  • Tripartite shrine at the Sokolovna at the exit after Boleradice
  • František Peřina Museum, it was established in 2006 in the former school and commemorates the life of the pilot and lieutenant general
  • Nature Reserves Hradek, Velky Kuntínov, Jesličky, Nosperk, Zázmoníky southwest of the village, protected since 1986
  • Archaeological site Hradek on the same hilltop, with remnants of a fortification from the late Hallstatt period
  • Archaeological site Hotařský Kopec, on the hill a Slavic burial site was discovered in 1984 with 25 bones graves. At the northern foot of the village was located Topolany who went out in the Tartar invasion in the early 13th century.
