The Moscow State Institute of International Relations (short: MGIMO or МГИМО for Russian Московский государственный институт международных отношений МИД России, also abbreviated IMO) is a university of the Russian Federation to the training of young diplomats.
The National Institute was founded in 1944, is the Russian Foreign Ministry and now has the status of a university. In addition to Russian students also foreign students are trained. The MGIMO is one of the leading universities in the training of future political elites ( " elite ").
Among other things, Hans -Dietrich Genscher and Margaret Thatcher were awarded the honorary doctorate of the MGIMO.
