Moshava

The Moschawa is one of three forms of rural settlement in Israel. The better known, and more frequent are the moshav and the kibbutz.

General

The Moschawot is the oldest Jewish form of a rural settlement in what is now Israel. The villages were usually created before the First World War, following the example of Central European villages. For the beginning of the Jewish settlement in Israel Moschawot were exemplary. The farmers were different in moshav and kibbutz individual farmers with their own means of production. Overall, significantly less than one hundred Moschawot were founded. For many Moschawot cities have developed in the meantime.
