Moskenesøya

Moskenesøy is part of the group of islands in the Southern part of Lofoten in Norway. The main town is Pure. Other villages on Moskenesøy include Moskenes, Å, Sørvågen, Sound, Sakrisøy and Hamnøy.

Economy and Transport

Fishing is still the most important economic factor today. However, tourism and farming of salmon is gaining importance.

The European route 10 connects the island Moskenesøy with the other northern islands of Lofoten and since 2007 free ferry to the mainland. Ferry connections are available with the mainland at Bodø and the southern island municipalities of Lofoten, Værøy and Røst.

There are to Leknes, Svolvær and Stamsund good bus connections. In Leknes is an airport with connections to Bodø, Svolvær and in Stamsund keep the ships of the Hurtigruten.
