Moss Kent

Moss Kent (* April 3, 1766 in Rensselaer County, New York, † May 30 1838 in Plattsburgh, New York) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1813 and 1817 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Moss Kent grew up during the British colonial period. He completed his preliminary studies. He then studied law. After receiving his admission to the bar began practicing. He was appointed in 1795 to the First Judge in Jefferson County. Then he moved to Cooperstown. Between 1799 and 1803 he sat in the Senate from New York and in the years 1807 and 1810 in the New York State Assembly. On February 26, 1810, he was appointed as a judge in Jefferson County. Politically, he was a member of the Federalist Party.

In the congressional elections of 1812, for the 13th Congress of Kent was in the 18th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he was the first representative of the district in the U.S. House of Representatives began its service on March 4, 1813. He was re-elected once and then retired after the March 3, 1817 from the Congress of.

After his conference time he went back to his work as a lawyer after. He died on 30 May 1838 in Plattsburgh and was then buried in the Riverside Cemetery.
