Motagua Fault

The Motagua - Polochic Fault, named after the rivers Motagua and polo chic, there is a left-handed transform fault that runs in the Caribbean Sea from the south the Mexican state of Chiapas in Guatemala to Belize and on. It represents a part of the boundary between the North American plate and the Caribbean plate dar. In the sea it goes into the Cayman Trench. The Motagua Polo Chic - warp is held responsible for several major earthquakes in the history of Guatemala, including the one dated 4 February 1976.
