Motey-Besuche

Motey visits is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Motey - out is at an altitude of 220 m above sea level, 8 km east of Pesmes and 28 km west-northwest of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village extends to the south of the department, on a plateau increased slightly north of the valley of Ognon.

The area of ​​6.21 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the gently undulating countryside between the valleys of Ognon in the south and Saône in the north. History

The origin of the church is a monastery called Besua back usque, which was probably founded in the 7th century. The current community name Motey visits originated from the old French word mostier ( monastery ) and the religious name. In the Middle Ages Motey visits belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Choye. The monastery was abandoned in the 17th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Motey visits is a member of the 18 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Val de Pesmes.

Attractions

The village church of Motey visits was rebuilt in the 18th century. East of the village in an open field is the chapel with a Romanesque portal. It constitutes the only surviving member of the monastery visits. Additional area attractions include the castle (16th century) and various houses from the 17th to the 19th century, showing the traditional style of the Haute -Saône.

Population

With 112 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is Motey visits to the smallest towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 223 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1980s.

Economy and infrastructure

Motey visits was well into the 20th century, a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards, vineyards and livestock ) embossed village.
