Motion (software)

Motion from Apple is a video software to create animations for film, video, television and DVD menus. The first version was released in summer 2004. The software was part of Final Cut Studio, which contained, among other things, the programs DVD Studio Pro, Final Cut Pro, LiveType and Soundtrack. Since June 2011 Motion is marketed as a stand-alone software through the Mac App Store.

Motion provides a real-time design environment and 3D motion graphics. Compared to, for example, Adobe After Effects motion results in faster results, but features a more smaller functions.

In addition, it is characterized by an integration in Apple's Final Cut Pro, where, for example, via the plugin interface the texts of a Motion project may be subject to change.

On July 23, 2009 Apple introduced Final Cut Studio 3 before, in which Motion 4 was included.

On June 21, 2011 Final Cut Pro X ( version 10.0 ) was released along with Motion 5 and Compressor 4. Since then, the applications are available no longer have the software suite Final Cut Studio, but can be ordered as separate programs through the Mac App Store.
