Motorola 68HC05

68HC05 denotes a microcontroller family from Motorola (now Freescale ).

Based on a unified, 6800 derived from Motorola, Motorola processor core developed the 68HC05 to a family with over 250 variations. The 6805 family has been replaced by those based on the CMOS process 68HC05.

The 68HC05 microcontroller exist in versions with ROM, EPROM and flash memory, and with different outfits at the periphery. A portion of the chip is still produced by Freescale, since these chips have been widely used in industrial applications, which are produced for very long periods. New chips based on the 68HC05 are no longer developed for some years, the 68HC05 family has been replaced by the 68HC08 family.

The different versions of the 68HC05 are identified by an appended to the " MC68HC05 " and letters, some of which also features belonging to a subfamily. In addition, the version of the program memory is indicated by the fact that chips with ROM as " MC68HC05xxx ", such are designated as EPROM " MC68HC705xxx " and with FLASH as " MC68HC805xxx ". The MC68HC705C8A is a relatively frequently used chip with EPROM.

In addition to Motorola, Hitachi also produced several variants of the 68HC05.
