Mount Danxia

The Danxia Mountains or Danxia Shan (丹霞 山) is a mountain range in the south of the circle Renhua belonging to the prefecture-level city of Shaoguan in northern Guangdong province.

The mountain is formed of red sandstone, which has been eroded over time into many unusual rock formations. Famous are a Yangyuanshi rock stack that resembles a phallus, and a Yinyuanshi - cavity that resembles a vagina.

The highest of the three peaks is the Baozhu Feng, the other hot Changlao and Hailuo. In the center of the area is the Xianglong Lake.

The Danxia Shan region is on the lists of Chinese state nature reserves, national parks and the Geopark, and since 2004 also a Geopark of the Global Network of National Geoparks of UNESCO.
