Mount Harlan AVA

Mt Harlan AVA is a recognized since 15 November 1990 wine-growing region in the U.S. state of California and part of the national Central Coast AVA.

Location

The vineyards here are spread over the municipality of San Benito County and within the Gabilan Mountains close to the Pinnacles National Park. The vineyards lie at an altitude 550-670 m above sea level. NN on a base of limestone. The recognition of the geographical designation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is based on a petition by Josh Jensen of Calera Wine Company of, the only winery in the region. Jensen founded his company where the growing conditions to those in Burgundy are almost identical. This includes the type of soil.
