The Iwate (Japanese岩手 山, Iwate -san ) is a mountain in the Ou mountains in sight of the Japanese city of Morioka, the capital of the northern Japanese prefecture of Iwate.

The Iwate has an elevation of 2038.2 meters and is named because of its shape and Iwate -Fuji (岩手 富士) or Nambu -Fuji (南部 富士). He is a volcano; Finally, it came in 1919 to a smaller eruption, escaped in the steam. In the years 1998 to 2003 small volcanic earthquakes were observed.
