Mount Kimbie

Mount Kimbie is a British band minimum, consisting of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos. Founded in London in 2008, the duo Crooks & Lovers published 19 June 2010 their debut album, which was extremely well received both in the scene as well with the critics. Their second album, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth appeared 2013 Warp Records.

Band history

Kai Campos is originally from St. Austell in Cornwall, Dom Maker from Brighton. They met at the South Bank University in London and soon began to make in a private studio in Peckham music together.

With the publication of a series of EPs and finally her critically acclaimed debut album, Crooks & Lovers, the band is considered the founder of the post-dubstep. The Guardian said the duo as a leader in the " exploratory elimination of basslastigem Dubstep towards a brighter, diesigeren style of electronic music, full of sleepy ambience and chopped root notes ". The Spex wrote of advancing an "aesthetics of mixing " that does not shrink back even before "swine rock and shoegaze ." The Music Express described the style that fit into any category, as a charming "Symphony of children Organ vacuum cleaner, from folk fragments and crackling Clicks & Cuts from the last electric rummage, from Ambient carving and R'n'B - waste ".

At the end of 2010, Crooks & Lovers was performed in over 30 " Best of 2010" lists, including NME, Mixmag, DJ Magazine, Resident Advisor, Pitchfork, Drowned In Sound, Boomkat, FACT and Rough Trade Records Phonica.

Mount Kimbie have, inter alia, Remixes for The Big Pink, Foals, The xx Andreya Triana and produced.

On the EP Blind Night Errand published in 2010, there is a live version of " Maybes ", which has been incorporated in the Berlin club Berghain.

Live the band appeared together frequently on with James Blake.
