Mount Obama

Mount Obama (2009 renamed, previously Boggy Peak), is the remnant of a volcanic crater in the Shekerley Mountains, while the highest point in the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda with 402 meters. It is located in the southwest of the island of Antigua. However, a climb of the summit is not possible, since the upper region of the Boggy Peak is a restricted area for a telecommunications station. From the summit a view of the surrounding islands of Montserrat and Guadeloupe is possible.

Renamed Mount Obama

In a press release dated November 5, 2008 announced the country's Prime Minister, Winston Baldwin Spencer, the renaming of Boggy Peak to Mount Obama in honor of U.S. President Barack Obama. The name change took place on 4 August 2009.
