Mount Pavlof is a stratovolcano on the Alaska Peninsula and lies on the banks of the Pavlof Bay. He is currently the most active volcano in the Aleutian Island chain, the last eruption occurred in 2007.

Since records began in 1790, 37 outbreaks are reported. Since the outbreaks oddly enough usually take place from September to December, it is the most predictable of all active volcanoes in the Aleutian Island chain. In recent years, there were at least six outbreaks of varying intensity, often accompanied by severe earthquakes. The largest known outbreak occurred in 1911 at the end of a five-year phase of activity. During this outbreak, a gulf on the northern flank of the volcano and erupted large boulders and lava flows opened.

On May 15, 2013, was again an eruption. According to a pilot the ash cloud reached a height of 6000 meters. Lava spilled out onto the northwestern flank.
