The Mount Sumagaya is north of the Philippine island of Mindanao on the territory of the province of Misamis Oriental.

Cebu Pacific flight 387

On 2 February 1998, the Cebu Pacific Flight 387 crashed on its way from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila to Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro in the southern Philippines on the slopes of Mount Sumagaya. All 104 people aboard the plane were killed in this accident. The accident was at this time the heaviest plane crash in the Philippines.
