Mount Wachusett

Mount Wachusett (also Wachusett Mountain ) is a 611 m high mountain in Central Massachusetts in Worcester County. It represents the highest point in Massachusetts east of the Connecticut River dar. Because of its isolated location, one speaks of a so-called Monadnock.

A mountain road leads to the summit, which is open between spring and autumn. At the top is a hotel that was built in 1874 together with the mountain road and is now getting on in years. It perform a series of hiking trails to the summit. From the top you can see the Boston skyline on the horizon. The summit is a popular observation point for amateur ornithologists.
