Moutoux

Moutoux is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Moutoux situated 650 meters above sea level. M., about six miles north- northeast of the city Champagnole (air line). The farming village in the Jura extends slightly increased on the eastern edge of the plateau of the Angillon at the foot of the heights of the Forêt de la face.

History

In the Middle Ages Moutoux formed with the neighboring Le Latet own little rule, which was dependent on the barony of Montrivel. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Population

With 59 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Moutoux one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 89 people were still counted ), a slight increase in population was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure
