Mt. Pleasant School (Gerrardstown, West Virginia)

The Mt Pleasant School is a former Einklassenschule and present church near Gerrardstown, Berkeley County, West Virginia. It was built in 1897 for African-American children. Use as school ended in 1939. Since 1942, the building serves as the church which bears the name of Mt Olive Methodist Church.

The building is about 8 m wide and 13 m long. The exterior is made ​​of limestone held in his home break stones. It is built into the slope of the hill and has a raised porch. The building is located in the southwest quadrant of the county and is about five kilometers from the border with Virginia.

2008 Mt Pleasant School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Near the location of the school is to be reduced by the company, Continental Brick slate. The approval was granted for this purpose by the State West Vrigina despite strong public protest against the associated air and water pollution in 2012.
