Mueang Pathum Thani District

Amphoe Mueang Pathum Thani ( Thai: อำเภอ เมือง ปทุมธานี ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Pathum Thani. The Pathum Thani Province is located in the center of the central region of Thailand.

The provincial capital Pathum Thani is also the capital of the district Mueang Pathum Thani.

Geography

Pathum Thani is located in the central plain of the Chao Phraya River and is surrounded by a fertile landscape. In the capital, Pathum Thani and on the outskirts are still channels ( Khlongs ) to see which were once used to transport goods. The distance to the capital Bangkok is about 45 km.

Economic importance and

Main products of agriculture, in addition to rice especially oranges that grow here in large plantations.

History

Pathum Thani was originally a settlement of the Mon, who immigrated during the reign of King Prasat Thong and Narai from Mottama ( เมาะ ตะ มะ ), today Martaban, Myanmar. The settlement was first called Sam Khok. During the time of King Taksin more Mon immigrated to Ban Sam Khok, Amphoe Sam Khok which forms the day.

During a visit by King Phra Phutthaloetla ( Rama II ) 1815 him the inhabitants of Sam Khok gave numerous lotus flowers as a sign of reverence. The king Sam Khok renamed in Prathum Thani. 1918, finally, the city and the province received its present name after King Vajiravudh (Rama VI. ) The inauguration ceremony for the new administration building ( " Sala sound " ) had presided over the province.

Attractions

  • Museum of Science and Technology Pathum Thani - contains six floors, interactive installations, including Thai traditional techniques are explained. The museum is to become one of the leading technology museums in Asia.
  • Wat Hong Pathummawat ( วัด หงส์ ป ทุ มา วา ส ) - built in 1764 by King Taksin on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River; Chedi and viharn are old replicas from Hongsawadi (now Pegu ), who at the time devastated capital of Mon
  • Wat Chinwararam ( วัด ชิน ว รา ราม ) - Located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River and decorated with beautiful murals on the life of Buddha.

  • San Lak Mueang - the shrine for the Town Ghost of Pathum Thani stands in the grounds of the Provincial Administration ( Sala sound ) and was built in 1977 to cover over the city column; including closure of a Buddha statue in Sukhothai style in the attitude of victory over evil.

Management

The district Mueang Pathum Thani is divided into 14 subdistricts (tambon ) divided, in turn, in 81 communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two cities ( Mueang thesaban ) in the district:

  • Pathumthani ( เทศบาล เมือง ปทุมธานี ), consisting of the whole tambon Bang Parok,
  • Rangsit ( เทศบาล เมือง รังสิต ), consisting of parts of the tambon Lak Hok.

In addition there are the following towns ( Tambon thesaban ):

  • Bang Luang ( เทศบาล ตำบล บาง หลวง ) consists of parts of Tambon Bang Luang, Ban Chang and Bang Duea,
  • Bang Ka -di ( เทศบาล ตำบล บาง กะ ดี ) consists of all the same Tambon,
  • Bang Khu Wat ( เทศบาล ตำบล บาง คู วัด ) consists of all the same Tambon,
  • Lak Hok ( เทศบาล ตำบล หลัก หก ) consists of Tambon Lak Hok of the other parts.

In addition, there are ten " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
