Munster cal guinea pigs ( Galea Monasteriensis )

The Münstersche guinea pigs ( Galea Monasteriensis ) belongs to the subfamily of authentics guinea pigs from the family guinea pigs. The species was only recognized in 2004 at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster as such.

Appearance

The Münstersche guinea pig is about 22 cm long, weighs about 300 grams and has a gray-brown fur.

Dissemination

The Münstersche guinea pig lives in Bolivia in the province of Cochabamba.

Behavior

The Münstersche guinea pig differs mainly by its monogamous lifestyle of other guinea pig species. It turns out quite aggressively against foreign counterparts. The fathers play with their young, instead of reacting aggressively to it.

Nutrition

The Münstersche guinea pig feeds primarily on grasses.
