Muhallabids

Muhallabiten was a dynasty of governors in Ifriqiya ( 771-793 )

The Muhallabiten were the governors of the Abbasids in the province of Ifriqiya / Tunisia. As such, they gained considerable autonomy from the Caliphate and the Arab rule were against the uprising of the Kharijite Berber assert ( 771-772 ). The formation of the Empire Idrisids in Morocco and Algeria in the central Rustamiden they could not prevent, however.

Among the Muhallabiten there was a significant economic and cultural development of the province of Ifriqiya. In particular, the agriculture reached a new blossom by the expansion of irrigation facilities. The muhallabitischen governor was overthrown by a military insurrection 793.
