Muhammad Sadik Muhammad Yusuf

Muhammad Muhammad Yusuf Sodiq ( born April 15, 1952 in Andijan, Uzbekistan ) is the most prominent theologian and unofficial spiritual leader of Islam in Uzbekistan. He is the first Mufti after independence and was the former Grand Mufti of the Muslim Spiritual Board of Central Asia, Uzbekistan. He studied at the Mir- i Arab Madrasa, Bukhara and the Imam al -Bukhari Institute in Tashkent, then in Libya. He has emerged as a translator and commentator of the Qur'an. His goal is the gradual but complete Islamization of Uzbek society.
