Multiple-camera setup

The multi-camera production is a process in video production, which is used for television and film records. Several cameras are used simultaneously to record an event from multiple angles simultaneously. Often this method is applied to news broadcasts, sporting events and concert recordings. For live broadcasts, this is usually implemented with a video mixer that can switch between the different camera signals to generate a sequence of several settings. In contrast, can be recorded separately and edited in post-production into a coherent program for post-production also each camera.

History

Since the beginning of the television multiple cameras are used in order to realize production. In the U.S. in 1928, the film " The Queen's Messenger " recorded in multi-camera method. Two cameras were trained on the two actors, and a third close-ups were filmed by hands and objects. In Germany the Olympic Games in 1936 as the first major event produced live with multiple cameras.

Distribution in the film

In film production, it is common that a scene is recorded with a single camera ( scenic turning), set each setting optimal for the perspective of the viewer and einzuleuchten. So it is common that each scene in sequence filmed from different angles and afterwards assembled in the post-production ( assembly). Therefore, it is not necessary that the scenes are recorded in chronological order. However, multiple cameras are used Chance to speed up production and thus to save costs, as with one pass of a scene with multiple angles are covered.

Benefits

Advantages of multi- camera production are just at live events, that you can switch between multiple angles to refurnish without cameras.
