Mummy Pond

The so-called mummy pond, English Mummy Pond is a small lake in Victoria Land to the south of Antarctica. It lies between Suess and Lacroixgletscher in the so-called Taylor Valley.

The mummy pond was discovered and named in December 1957 by the American geologists TL pewe.

Its name refers to the numerous seals frozen corpses that were found by the explorers around the lake.
