Münchner Bank

The Munich-based bank is a credit union headquartered in Munich and the oldest cooperative bank in Bavaria. With 625 employees ( including subsidiaries ), 52 sites in the Munich area and total assets of 3,282 million euros, it is one of the largest universal co-operative banks in Bavaria.

History

On July 12, 1862 in Munich founded 22 artisans, merchants, industrialists and officials the " Munich loan association" ( with Solidarhaft ). The Institute should be a cooperative self-help device for acceptance of deposits and granting of loans to its members.

In April 1865, the Institute was renamed as " Munich Industrial Bank". It was the first commercial credit union in Bavaria. Hermann Schulze- Delitzsch, founder of the German trade and industrial cooperatives and popular banks, contributed to the drafting of the Articles of Association.

In October 1873, the first own bank building today Münchner Bank eG was built on St. Peter's Square 11. Another estate at wife No. 2 was purchased November 1897. After a two- year renovation period, the headquarters of the bank in this building, directly opposite the Frauenkirche in Munich, misplaced.

In July 1964, the Institute merged with the Upper Bavarian People's Bank in the neighboring Augustinerstraße 1 The Upper Bavarian People's Bank was founded in 1881. The merged bank called himself since " Volksbank Munich ".

In July 1990, the People's Bank of Munich merged with the bank in Munich, which was founded in 1881. The new institute was renamed " Münchner Bank eG Volksbank " around. Retroactive to January 1, 2012, the merged bank in Munich with the Raiffeisen Bank Munich district. The merger was registered on 19 September 2012 in the register of cooperative societies, the technical merger of the two banks was carried out on 22 and 23 September 2012.

On 15 November 2013, the newly designed head office of the bank in Munich was re- inaugurated on Frauenplatz. This home next to the competence center also has its own museum.
