History

The Palais Pringsheim, which belonged to the mathematician Alfred Pringsheim was until November 1933 on the site of the House of Culture Institute. Pringsheim, a German Jew, was forced by the Nazi takeover of power for sale and has been demolished the house. In its place, this neoclassical building was erected near the Royal place by architect Paul Ludwig Troost 1934-1935. It served the Nazi party as a representative of offices. The counterpart with respect to the symmetry axis of the Briennerstraße was the Fuhrer, which now houses the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Beginning in 1945, the former administrative building of the NSDAP served together with the Fuhrer as a central collection point ( Central Collecting Point) of the U.S. Military Government for the looted by the Nazis throughout Europe looted art.
