Münchsmünster Abbey

The monastery Muenchsmuenster is a former Benedictine monastery in Muenchsmuenster in Bavaria in the diocese of Regensburg.

History

The St. Peter and St. Sixtus monastery was consecrated by Duke Tassilo III. founded by Bavaria and was to 925 Benedictine monastery, 925-1131 canons. From 1131 to the 16th century it was again Benedictine monastery. In 1556, became extinct in the turmoil of the Reformation the monastery. The Bavarian dukes sat then a secular administrator. In 1598 the goods were handed over to the Jesuit College of Ingolstadt. 1782 was the system to the Order of Malta. 1815 monastery and church were canceled.
