Mungeranie, South Australia

Mungeranie, alternatively known as Mungerannie hotel or Mungerannie station, is a hamlet with a population of 3 in the Australian outback. Mungeranie is located on the Birdsville Track 204 km north of Marree in north- east of South Australia. The next town north is 313 km away Birdsville just across the border of Queensland.

The name " Mungeranie " is borrowed from the language of the local Aboriginal word meaning " big, ugly face. "

The hamlet consists of a hotel with the only fuel dispenser on the Birdsville Track and a runway. The Derwent River is located directly on the hamlets.
