Muniruddin Ahmed

Muniruddin Ahmed ( Urdu منیرالدین احمد; b. 1934 in Rawalpindi ) is a Pakistani Islamic scholar and writer. His specialization is the history and politics of the Muslim world with a focus on the Indian subcontinent.

Biography

He studied Islam and Political Science at the University of the Punjab, the Jamia Ahmadiyya ( Rabwah ) and the University of Hamburg. In 1960, he came as a missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to Hamburg. After a confrontation with the senior missionary, he was expelled from the community of faith and henceforth worked from 1967 to 1999 as a researcher at DOI (Deutsches Orient- Institut), Hamburg, and taught at the University of Hamburg.

Muniruddin Ahmed is one of the pioneers of the Urdu literature abroad. He has published five books in Urdu narrative. He also translated from the German literature, of which seven volumes have been published so far. This includes an anthology of German short stories and poetry books. His autobiography " Dahlte Saayee " was published in the literary journal " Savera ", Lahore, and was published in October 2006 in book form.
