Münster–Hamm railway

The railway Münster- Hamm is a nearly 36 -kilometer-long, continuous double track and electrified railway mainline from Munster to Hamm in North Rhine -Westphalia, which was built by the Münster- hammer Railway Company founded for just this purpose ( MHE ).

History

The Cologne -Minden Railway Company (CME ) had deliberately chosen the right route their regular route across Westphalia and the " lies ignored " the important region for the city of Münster in the truest sense of the word.

To be now not completely cut off by the railway was established in the MHE, which should build a spur track to track the CME. This line was opened on 26 May 1848 and passenger traffic on 8 July 1848 for freight ( loud, loud reverse dating).

Already in 1855, financed by the Prussian state Royal Westphalian Railway Company ( KWE) took over both the company and their track that they built far to Rheine already in the following year.

Operation

Sailed in former times also individual intercity trains the track, so take this now the way across the railway line Prussia Minster, so the route is today of more regional importance in the western and southern Westphalia Münster Country:

It drives

  • Every hour of the Rhine -Münster -Express (RE 7) Keep in Hamm, Drensteinfurt, Münster -Hiltrup and Münster Hbf
  • Monday to Friday daytime half-hourly, or hourly EMS flare -Bahn (RB 69/89 ) with stops at all stations of the route.

The price of a single ticket costs 8.10 euros in regional traffic ( VGM tariff, as of January 2010) for an adult. By booking a longer distance (eg Dortmund to Munster on Hamm ) cheaper rates can possibly arise.
