Muqata'ah

As mukataa ( Muqata'a / مقاطعه, " separated ", also Dirlik / ديرلك ) the property was referred to in the Ottoman Empire, which was made ​​available to a government employees instead of a salary as remuneration for a particular task. The property always remained the property of the state or of the Sultan.

There were three different, distinct types according to size of Mukataa, namely Timar, Zeamat and Has.

In Seljuk times the name for Mukataa was the Arabic word Ikta.
