The Hechtconger ( Muraenesocidae, Lat. Muraena = moray, Gr. Esox = pike ) are a little-known family aalartiger fish that live in tropical areas of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean at depths of ten to 1200 meters.

Features

Hechtconger be, depending on the type, 60 centimeters to 2.50 meters long. Your mouth column extends far beyond the eyes. They have strong canine teeth on the vomer and the front of the lower jaw. Their pectoral fins are well developed, the approach of the dorsal fin is located above the pectorals, or shortly before. The large eyes are covered with skin, concealed the lateral line organ. Hechtconger have 120-216 vertebrae.
