MureÈ™ County

Mureş [ mureʃ ] is a Romanian county ( Judet ) in the historic region Transylvania, with the county town of Târgu Mureş. It is named after the river Mureş, its common abbreviation, and the license plate number are MS.

The circle Mureş bordered to the north and to the northwest by the district Bistrita-Nasaud. Furthermore, it is bordered on the north by the Suceava County, on the east by the Harghita County, to the south by the counties of Braşov and Sibiu, in the latter also in the west, further to the west and to the Alba County.

Demography

In 2002, the county 579 862 inhabitants and a population density of 86 inhabitants per km ².

In the 2011 Census the county had 550 846 inhabitants Mureş thus a population density of 82 inhabitants per km ².

The county has a total area of ​​6714 km ², equivalent to 2.81 % of the area of Romania.
