Features
The forewing length is 15 to 16 millimeters. Muschampia mohammed is very similar to Muschampia proto. The outer edge of the hind wings is considerably curled. The spots on the top are much better trained and yellowish to brownish. The Submarginalflecke are also apparent. The underside of the hind wings is basically brown or reddish-brown with reddish veins. In the Postdiskalregion some dark vein gaps are seen, particularly in the cells 1c, two and three. In addition, there are small white spots that are framed partly black. In addition, a large bright Diskalfleck to see who is perlmutterglänzend.
Variability
The moths of the first generation are less ( the forewing length is only 14 millimeters). The underside of the hind wings is basically colored dark brown.
Geographic occurrence and habitat
Muschampia mohammed is native to Morocco, Algeria and? Tunisia. It is found in dry, rock - and flower-filled locations 1500-1800 meters above sea level.
Way of life
The moths fly from March to October in two or three generations. The caterpillar lives on fire herbs; are called Phlomis crinita and Phlomis bovei.
System
The species was described by Charles Oberthuer 1887 under the name Syrichthus mohammed first time scientifically. The type locality is Sebdou, Lambessa (Algeria). There are two junior synonyms, Syrichthus ahmed Oberthuer, 1912 and Hesperia caid Le Cerf, 1923.
