Muskö naval base

HMS Sundsvall before the tunnel entrance, 1968

Situation in the archipelago south of Stockholm

The naval port Muskö is a naval base on its namesake island on Sweden's east coast. The complex was built during the Cold War. It has several dry docks, fuel and ammunition, as well as the usual facilities.

Following a Government decision of 2004, the Swedish Navy on the east coast of Karlskrona was concentrated, bringing the Muskö base lost its importance. The following year she was verpacht to the private company Kockums AB and AB Muskövarvet.
