Myroconger

Myroconger is a genus of eel-like ( Anguilliformes ). She stands alone in the monotypic family Myrocongridae.

The animals have a strong laterally compressed body, small gill openings and an incomplete lateral line organ. They are 36 to 54 inches long.

Four of the five species were discovered in the 1990s or in 2006. So far, only a few copies of the family were caught. They found the fish in the Atlantic at St. Helena and off the coast of Senegal, possibly in São Tomé and Principe, in the Indian Ocean with the Seychelles, and in the Pacific in New Caledonia on undersea mountain Kaiyo Maru, on the mountain ridge between Kyushu and Palau and in the eastern Pacific. They live at depths from 50 to 650 meters. The exact habitat is unknown.
