N'dambi

N'Dambi ( Chonita Gilbert, born June 16, 1969 in Dallas as Chonita N. Gillespie ) is an American neo-soul and contemporary R & B singer.

Life

Daughter of a pastor and a missionary, Gilbert has been singing at an early age in the local church gospel. At the age of eighteen she married. Then Chonita studied English at Southern Methodist University. After she had written several short stories, she devoted herself from 1995, the music. She worked together with her girlfriend Erykah Badu and N'Dambi chose the stage name, a name which, as she herself explains, her godfather brother has given her and means "the most beautiful of all ." She sang in the background on the Badu albums Baduizm and live. 1999, 2001 and 2005, she gave herself three Jazz - Funk / R & B albums out: Little Lost Girls Blues, Tunin Up & Cosignin and A Weird Kinda Wonderful. Was published in 2009 on the newly re-established record label Stax her latest album Pink Elephant.
