Nada-ku, Kobe

Nada -ku (Japanese滩区) is a municipality ( ku ) of Kobe.

Geography

Nada -ku includes not only the urban areas of Nada JR West railway station to between the stations Rokkōmichi and Sumiyoshi an approximately equally large area of the Rokko mountain ridge with the peaks and Rokko Maya.

History

The earthquake in Kobe in 1995 met Nada very hard. South of the running east -west traffic artery Yamatekansen the city suffered devastating damage, the reconstruction in the area south of the station Rokkōmichi lasted until 2005. The local high- track section of the JR Tōkaidō Line 1995 required the tedious repair work.

Attractions

Like the neighboring district Higashinada Nada -ku -ku is famous for its sake production. Numerous smaller and larger Sakebrauereien resident in Nada.

The Hankyu Station Rokko is the starting point for bus trips to the mountain of the same name, about 2 km further up the hill on the edge of the settlement area, the station of the cable car that leads to the Rokko and according to Arima Onsen, as well as the highway is on the mountain. As a toll road leads through the Rokko Tunnel to Sanda and Arima and forms one of the three road crossings in the northern part of Kobe and the surrounding area.

In Nada -ku is the University of Kobe, the Shoin Women's University and the German school Kobe.
