Nadejda Mountbatten, Marchioness of Milford Haven

Nadja Mountbatten, Marchioness of Milford Haven ( born Nadja Mikhailovna de Torby, born March 28, 1896 in London, † January 22, 1963 in Cannes ) was a member of the house of Romanov -Holstein -Gottorp. After her marriage she was a member of the British Royal Family.

Life

Nadja was the second daughter of the Russian Grand Duke Mikhail Mikhailovich Romanov (1861-1929), second son of Grand Duke Michael Nikolaevich Romanov (1832-1909) and his wife Princess Cecilia of Baden ( 1839-1891 ). Her mother was the Countess Sophie of Merenberg (1868-1927), daughter of Prince Nicholas of Nassau and Natalie Alexandrovna Puschkina. Through the latter, her mother, she was the great-granddaughter of the Russian national poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin and a descendant of the African prince Abraham Petrovich Hannibal.
