Nader El-Sayed

Nader El -Sayed (Arabic نادر السيد; born December 13, 1972 in Dakahlia ) is a former Egyptian football goalkeeper, who played a total of thirteen years for the Egyptian national football team.

Club career

El -Sayed began his professional career at Zamalek SC. After 6 successful years, he took the chance and he moved to the Belgian top club FC Bruges. After he was able to secure a regular place there, he tried his luck in Greece Akratitos Ano Liosia in the Alpha Ethniki.

After he briefly played for Al -Ittihad and Al -Masry, he moved to Al -Ahly Cairo. He took part in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2005 and finished in 5th place, because you lost the game against Sydney FC 1-2.

On January 9, 2007, he joined ENPPI after he failed at Al -Ahly Cairo to fight for a regular place.

El -Sayed is also known as a penalty killer. During his career, he held a total of 21 penalty kicks in the club and the national team.

National team career

El -Sayed played 13 years in the national team of his native country. He made his debut in 1995 in the 1-1 draw against Jordan.

He also played as a captain at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and at the Junior World Championship 1991 in Portugal.

El -Sayed is also the only goalie who was twice elected to the African Cup of Nations as the best goalkeeper at the Africa Cup namely 1998 and 2000.

Since he was able to secure a regular place in Al -Ahly Cairo and he was getting old, he made his last game in 2005 qualifying for the World Cup 2006 against Ivory Coast, which was lost with 0:2.
