Nadka Karadjova

Nadka Karadjova (common transliteration Nadka Karadzova, Bulgarian Надка Караджова; born March 14, 1937 in Tri Wodizi, Bulgaria, † January 3, 2011 in Sofia) was a Bulgarian folk singer and was over 40 years to the choir of the National Ensemble " Filip Kutew ".

Life

At the age of fifteen years was Nedka Karadjova part of the National Dance Ensemble and Choir " Filip Kutew ". With the ensemble she had over 13,500 concerts in Bulgaria and abroad, she recorded over 300 songs and released 27 solo albums. Over 150 photographs belong to their gold back of the Bulgarian National Radio. With the National Ensemble took the plates Le Mystère of voix bulgares ( Engl. The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices ) on what it was nominated for a Grammi.

In 1978 she won a music competition organized by the British BBC -2 with the song Заблеяло ми агънце. After the competition the song in the UK was published and she got platinum. 1994 Karadjova was included in the Encyclopedia of World Music.

In 1991 she founded with her ​​daughter Swetla and with the singers Lilyana Galewska and Stojanka Lalowa (all soloists of the National Ensemble ), the quartet Slawej ( Bulg Славей ) and gives concerts in Bulgaria and abroad. With the quartet she recorded an album of Japanese series Bulgarian Polyphony.

Nadka Karadjova died on January 3, 2011 in Sofia after a heart attack, four days after her last public appearance on the show Komizite.

Honors

For their contribution to preserving the Bulgarian folklore and their musical talent Karadjova was honored with several awards and decorations, including the Order of " Cyril and Methodius " (1971, 3rd stage), " People's Republic of Bulgaria " (1993, 3rd stage) and " Stara Planina " (1997, 2nd class); the Awards Honored People's Artist of the People's Republic of Bulgaria, Bratislava ( 1975) and Nestinarka (2006) of the International Folklore Festival of Burgas.

After her death the Bulgarian television took the documentary " Славеите на Надка Караджова " on. In March 2011, the quartet Slawej was renamed quartet Nadka Karadjova.
