Nagaokakyō, Kyoto

Nagaokakyo (Japanese长 冈 京 市, -shi ) is a Japanese city in northern Kyoto Prefecture.

History

From 784-794 was on the today's city, and the neighboring city of Muko and the Kyoto Nishikyo -ku district of the capital of Japan Nagaoka - kyō. Due to the short lifetime it was held later for a " phantom capital ", to the excavations of the upper school teacher Shuichi Nakayama (中山 修 一) in 1954.

On 1 October 1949, the municipality of Nagaoka (长 冈 町, chō ) from the union of the three villages Shinkōtari (新 神 足 村, -mura ), Kaiinji (海印 寺村, -mura ) and Otokuni (乙 训 村, -mura ) was of the district Otokuni founded.

On 1 October 1972, the Chō Nagaoka was named Shi. But since there is already a Nagaoka Shi was, the community renamed Nagaokakyo.
