Nagar, Pakistan

Nagar ( Urdu نگر ) is a town in Gilgit district in Gilgit -Baltistan, the former Northern areas of Pakistan. This city is located in the Hispar Valley to 2,688 meters above sea level and was the capital of the former mountain kingdom of Nagar.

Location

Nagar is situated on the southern slope of Hispar Valley shortly before its confluence into the Hunza valley at an altitude of about 2500 meters. Opposite the mouth on the other side of the Hunzatals lies at a distance of about 10 kilometers (air distance) Karimabad, the former capital of the Hunzareichs. The leading through the Hunza Valley Karakoram Highway connects the region with the Pakistani capital and Rawalpindi with Kashgar in China.
