Nagel (Fichtelgebirge)

Nail is a community in the Upper Franconian district of Wunsiedel, member of the administrative community Tröstau and nationally recognized resort.

Geographical Location

Nail is located on the south side of the Fichtelgebirge, where it forms the southern cornerstone.

History

Nail was first mentioned in 1200 in a Zehentverzeichnis of the monastery Reichenbach am Regen. The present municipality was in the 13th century the dukes of Bavaria and came 1329 Wittelsbach Palatinate line of the house. In a boundary Treaty of 1536, the area around the nail has been divided into two parts. The greater part belonged to since Bayern- Pfalz, the smaller with half the village of Reichenbach, a church today part, for Margravate Bayreuth. 1803, the whole village to the Prussian Principality of Bayreuth. 1810, the municipality was Bavarian.

The council are after the election of 2008, including the mayor 15 members:

  • SPD: 3
  • CWG: 3

The CSU is the first mayor to be the strongest faction.

Nature

North of the village there is the nailer lake, which is often used in the arts and sports. There is a Kneipp facility on its shore; at certain points can be fished.

There is also " The Teutsche Paradeiß ", a walking path around the nail, which is divided into three sections, designed to teach visitors the nature and performs all districts. He is managed by the Fichtel Mountain Club and was financed in part by funds from the European Union.
